Celebrity Baby Hype

I don't know if anyone else is getting sick of this but I'm getting a little tired of hearing about all these guys and their families. This article made me laugh.
It's from The Toronto Star

Enjoy, Hope you get a chuckle out of it.

Birding

Somehow my parents fell into becoming these amazing, semi-obsessive birders and every time they come and visit it encourages Andrew to continue the quest for one more elusive bird. I am NOT a birder, I'm not anti-birds, I love nature. I just get bored squinting through binoculars until my eyes water trying to tell the difference between little brown birds and debating weather their cap is red or rust, the shape of their wing bands and the size of their eye ring.
I do like hawks and eagles, I don't even mind ducks. So on occasion I can be talked in to going to Montezuma Wildlife Refuge, the local hotspot for waterfowl and birds of prey. Which is exactly what we did yesterday. I have to admit that my highlight was not the birds, but all the turtles I got to see. I even got to play with my Mom's digital and got some pretty cool pics, which she took home before I remembered to get them from her. I'm pretty sure they were all painted turtles. I'll post the pics when I get them. In the meantime here are what some of the other things we saw look like. (In order, Green Heron, American Bittern, Osprey)

I am falling back into being procrastinator extraordinaire. This week has been a prime example. I put together my French Class review together at the last minute, currently I'm still hammering out the details for the final tonight. This morning I waited until the last possible minute to get up, even choosing to forgo a shower for the opportunity of a few more minutes of sleep. I'm coming up with different excuses not to train, even though I have a race coming up in just over two weeks. I even waited until yesterday to prepare a workshop on stress management that I have to present this afternoon.
I'm exhausted, I need a vacation, I need some time off. I need to practice what I preach and do some stress management vs. avoidancence.
Hurray for the long weekend!

Mornings

I'm not a morning person, as most of you know. But I have noticed that I have lots of Blogging ideas in the morning: as I'm getting ready for work, as I'm eating breakfast, even as I'm driving to work. But as I'm usually running late, I don't have time to Blog and don't take the time to jot my ideas down. So then I log on at night to share my thoughts of the day, my mind goes BLANK. Hence why I haven't Blogged very much.

But here's a morning experience... I had time to check my email and sat down on my computer only to realize that one of the cats had barfed on a chair, the chair I was sitting on. Now before you get too grossed out, because I was, it was only a tiny amount of barf. But for those of you that know me, I don't do barf. Hubby picks up animal barf, I've been known to plug my ears and hum a song when loved ones or students are barfing. I don't do the hold-your-hair-rub-your-back stuff, I leave the room if at all possible. Barf IS on my list of reasons not to have kids.

So that's how my morning started today, the song that came to mind; "I had a bad day" by Daniel Powter (he's Canadian).

Q: How to be embarrassed by your dog....

A: ...Take Sam (my German Shepard/Great Dane) for a run.

I'm slowly trying to get back to training. Last night I thought I would go for a run/walk and would take the dog with me so he could get some exercise too. I was taking it easy and just doing run 1 min./walk 1 min. and the plan was to go about 2.5 miles. Well about halfway through Sam decides he's had enough and starts slowing down, so now I'm running through the village dragging a dog that's got me by about 20 pounds! I'm sure some people got a good laugh out of it. I finally gave up and just took the longest hill home and walked it.
